Primitivo
Primitivo , this grape variety has actually stood still for a long time, but nowadays it also has its own DOC , namely DOC Primitivo di Manduria, DNA research has shown that the Zinfandel and the Tribidrag from Croatia are related to the Primitivo .
The Primitivo has a black skin in California, the grape variety is planted on 10 % of the vineyard area
Primitivo
For many years, the Primitivo was only used as a flavor or color enhancer for other, less robust red wines, such as the Malbec (cot) called in Bordeaux. Today's modern techniques have helped a lot with the treatment of the Primitivo during vinification. Now the primitivo produces smooth and intense tasting wines of a quality that we can recommend. Characteristics in taste are mainly plums, figs and black fruit pallet. It is a full sun stewed wine with sultry fruit, usually with a high alcohol content. nowadays there are also beautiful Primitivo Riserva from the Manduria that have undergone a wood aging and can be stored for a long time.
The Zinfandel from America in particular has brought the Primitivo back into the limelight. The Zinfandel has really rescued the Italian Primitivo from Puglia. At the moment, the Primitivo is also being planted more and more in Australia.
Due to its substantial body and fruity taste, Primitivo combines well with hearty, spicy and/or grilled dishes.
