The name Allesverloren reflects the origin of its wines. It stems from a single transformative incident: to buy tools or go to church, the family in Allesverloren had to undertake a long and arduous wagon journey along primitive roads to Stellenbosch. When they returned from such a trip in 1704, they found their house razed and the farm destroyed.

In 1919, two brothers, Marthinus and Niels Momberg, bought Middelvlei and moved their families to the farm.A year later, the first wines were pressed, at that stage mainly fortified wines. Their two sons, Stiljan (quiet Jan) and his nephew, also called Jan but Jan Bek (because of his more extroverted and eloquent personality), inherited the farm in 1960.

The Bosman family have been wine growers in Wellington for 8 generations, with their proud heritage providing the foundation from which innovation and sustainability are a natural progression.

Kleine Zalze is an award-winning winery located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, just three kilometers from Stellenbosch. Wine has been made on a small scale on our estate since 1695, but in 1996, when Kobus Basson and his family bought the property, the modern Kleine Zalze was born.
