White Umbrie

White Umbrie

Umbrian white wines

Umbrian white wines Umbria's main area is the DOC Orvieto and as a commercial area it is the most important appellation of origin from Umbria. The Orvieto area can be divided into the Orvieto Classico which is the traditional area and other areas where the vineyards were planted later. The wines from the classico area are characterized as the best. Throughout Umbria, winemakers work with the Grechetto and Trebbiano grape varieties. Umbria is a fairly small wine region in the heart of Italy, halfway between Florence and Rome. Umbria has about 17,000 hectares of vineyards. Because the location of Umbria is not entirely ideal, the wine region of Umbria has never become a famous area , yet the Orvieto wines are popular in the Netherlands.
