Chassenay d’Arce
Chassenay d'Arce
Founded in Ville-sur-Arce in 1956 by five pioneers, the Chassenay d'Arce winery now counts some 130 families and three generations of winemakers. The original collaboration remains, with the same spirit of collaboration, solidarity and knowledge sharing.
The Chassenay d'Arce wine region covers 315 hectares and 12 villages in the heart of the Côte des Bar, along the Arce River. Shaped by a unique landscape that alternates between vineyards and forests, it is also characterized by our diverse varieties and by the integrated cultivation they practice.
The spirit of the house is a combination of a family spirit, the spirit of the terroir and the high standards shared by the winemakers to ensure they produce only the highest quality champagnes.
Chassenay d'Arce champagnes are an expression of the specific terroir of the Côte des Bar and the Kimmeridgian soil once covered by the sea. As the seasons go by, the vines grow, the bunches take on color and the vintages develop...
The Arce Valley is located on the south side of Champagne, close to Burgundy. The mild climate, the location of the vines and the soil types (here the roots of the vine dig into stony marl) enable the winegrowers to harvest the fruits at full ripeness towards the end of summer.
The dominant variety in this region is Pinot Noir . They also grow Chardonnay , Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc , the old champagne variety. This diversity enables them to produce wines with a wide range of personalities.
Throughout the year, each stem is nurtured and shaped to ensure it gives the best of itself and the most generous grapes.
They are the first certified Champagne house to be certified as Sustainable Viticulture.
This certification is based on strict specifications and is checked every 18 months by AFNOR, the independent French standardization body. It is based on the ISO 26000 standard, the international reference recognized by more than 100 countries for sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
They advocate a global vision based on four fundamental pillars:
– Take action for the environment
– Guaranteeing quality from vine to glass
– Supporting the region and local heritage
– Offer fair prices to producers and consumers.
Being certified as Sustainable Viticulture sends a strong signal: they are an organization that takes into account the impact of its decisions. they are also committed to the sustainable development of their activities.
It takes concrete form in their actions and investments:
– integrated viticultural techniques
– eco-responsible purchasing
– controlled energy operating costs
– recycled waste
– measures in favor of biodiversity
This is more than just an environmental approach, it's a true business philosophy that they are proud to uphold.
