Cave de Lugny

Macon Chardonnay Reserve

White wine

 On a clay-limestone plateau of nearly 10 ha (clays on Kimmeridgian limestone) on which a majority of old vines grow, this wine is based on the town of Chardonnay , the birthplace of the grape variety.

Sometimes this town is also called Belouzes, Bluzes or Beluses, the name comes from both the Latin word "bellus" meaning "Beau" and "Celtic" meaning in Burgundy the limestone soils with clay silicon components, which were early emphasized by the Galliers and so are favorable for the expression of the Chardonnay variety. This terroir provides the transition between the appellation Mâcon-Lugny and the appellation Mâcon- Chardonnay .

Average age of the vineyard: 30 years.
