Castillo de Monjardin is located in the northwest of Navarre, at the foot of the Pyrenees, not far from the French border. Originally the castle of Monjardin was very important for the kingdom of Navarre in the twelfth century under the king Sancho Garces, today it is a famous pilgrimage route from Paris to Santiago de Campostela. Its proximity and historical cultural links to France provide a winemaking tradition based on Chardonnay , Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot , different from the rest of Spain. Monjardín makes good use of the Garnacha and Pinot Noir which are fresh and fruit forward red.
During the past 25 years, they have received more than 100 medals and publications. The vineyards of Monjardín are located on sunny slopes at an average altitude of 1800 feet and are cooled by the “Cierzo” wind. The Family Estate has a total of 220 Ha of vineyards that are 15, 30 and 70 years old.
Philosophy. The winemaking skills of owner and winemaker Victor Del Villar ensure wines with an exceptionally intense aroma, full flavor and firm structure. All wines are made with grapes from our estate's vineyards; fermentation is controlled and wines are aged in French and American oak. The best practices of traditional winemaking methods with a touch of innovation to create high quality wines that complement Mediterranean cuisine and represent the terroir of our Estates Vineyard in making Monjardin wines from Spain.

The land is something that is always present; the only thing that is not transient. For Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín, the “Terroir” is very important, as it leaves its mark on the character and quality of the wines. The winery is located in a privileged environment for viticulture, in the valley of San Esteban, in the heart of the area known as Tierra Estella in Navarra.
The aim is to obtain excellent grapes from the Chardonnay , Tempranillo , Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. That is why it is essential to ensure that our vineyards are maintained in optimal conditions.
It currently owns 220 hectares of vineyards that are between 15, 25 and 70 years old. The vines are trained to limit the threat of disease and are located on sunny slopes, cooled by the Cierzo winds at dusk during the hot summers. This excellent temperature, together with the altitude of the vineyards, at 600 meters above sea level, are key factors in giving the Castillo de Monjardín wine its characteristic freshness.
