Terroir: Vinsobres, is the northernmost cru of the southern Rhone Valley. Located at an altitude of 350 m, the terraces of Les Piallats are south-east facing and composed of gray marl and banks of gravel of river origin. Pierre Amadieu owner and winegrower in Gigondas since 1929
“Our history begins in 1929 when my grandfather decided to bottle and market his wine under the Pierre Amadieu , which comes from the 7 hectares of vineyard in Gigondas passed down from generation to generation. He is then one of the first to print the name of the appellation on his bottles and from 1932 obtains a gold medal in the National Agricultural Competition of Paris.
I am currently running the company, working with my uncle and my three cousins. I am responsible for winemaking with my cousin Jean-Marie. My uncle Claude runs the vineyard. My cousin Henri-Claude manages sales, and his sister, Marie, is responsible for private customers and the cellar door. Together we follow the time-honored family tradition of respecting the soil to produce wines that reflect and embody our unique terroir. Our goal is to offer you wines faithful to my grandfather's quality standards, but with a touch of modernity to satisfy the most demanding palates.
I'm not a fan of wines overhauled and often "heavy" in taste; my ambition is rather to obtain balanced wines with a Burgundian fineness. Through the aging I try to reveal all the elegance and richness of our protected terroirs on the heights of the Gigondas appellation. From vines to bottling, patience and observation are required. Appreciated all over the world today, each vintage retains its subtleties that I would like to submit to your appreciation.”
